PROGRAMS
Exhibitions at Green Hill Center est. 1974
With five to seven exhibitions each year, Green Hill Center has been showcasing the finest contemporary art by North Carolina artists for over 30 years. In addition, several exhibitions have traveled to over 13 cities and two countries.
 
Artists-in-the-Schools est. 1980
Green Hill brings North Carolina artists from around the state into fourth grade classes of Guilford County Schools. The program includes lectures, demonstrations and hands-on activities for the students to enjoy.
 
Traveling Trunks est. 1987
Trained volunteers and interns present themed trunks of art objects to schools and community groups. Filled with a wide variety of artworks representing the cultural legacy of North Carolinians, the program promotes awareness of the many artistic traditions of our state.
 
Teacher Workshops est. 1993
Green Hill Center and ArtQuest offer early childhood education workshops on creativity, art techniques and
methods for the classroom. The library partnership resources add a new dimension to the program by showing strategies for integrating the arts and literacy.
 
ArtQuest at Green Hill Center est. 1996
Green Hill’s permanent interactive art gallery for children of all ages enables us to promote art and share its processes with families and school groups seven days a week. ArtQuest has served over 200,000 people since opening in 1996.
 
ArtQuest Family Night est. 1996
Every Wednesday evening, ArtQuest is open free of charge from 5 to 7 p.m. Family Night ensures that families throughout the community can “play” and learn in our interactive art gallery. An average of 250 people visit ArtQuest each month during Family Night.
 
Guilford Child Health Clinic Renovation est. 1998
Green Hill livened up the waiting areas of 2 Guilford Child Health Clinics with hands-on exhibits that would make each visit fun.
ArtQuest Outreach Workshops est. 1997
We deliver the fun of ArtQuest into the community with our unique hands-on workshops designed for children of all ages. We have been providing art workshops for after-school enrichment programs in elementary schools
throughout Guilford County through funding from United Way of Greensboro and High Point. We also provide this exciting experience to daycares, ACES programs, and many other community organizations that serve children.
 
Family Place at Greensboro Central Library est. 1999
Another collaboration with the Greensboro Public Library allows parents/caretakers of very young children to explore, play and “make art” together at the library.
 
Hill at the Stage est. 2001
This new downtown exhibition space at Triad Stage, a new regional theater, is the result of a unique partnership between the Green Hill Center and Triad Stage. Exhibitions have given over 75,000 theatergoers a North Carolina art experience.
 
Therapeutic Arts est. 2004
In this collaboration with Moses Cone Regional Cancer Center and the NC Museum of Art, artists will be working with adult cancer patients starting with a series of workshops with artist Peg Gignoux. We will be creating a model for other museum and hospital partnerships.
 
Hemphill Branch Library est. 2004
This groundbreaking partnership with Greensboro Public Library merges art and literacy at the city's newest library branch. Changing art exhibitions on display and the ongoing, unique arts programming designed to invite children to participate in the ArtQuest Studio to at the library personify this collaboration's mission to "create a non-traditional library where art and literature are seamlessly integrated."
 
Gallery Programs
In conjunction with exhibitions, openings, and special events, Green Hill offers artist talks, panel discussions, artist demonstrations, artist conferences, and performances (readings, dance and music).
 
Collaborations
Partnerships are essential in the fulfillment of Green Hill's mission, allowing staff to serve thousands of children and adults each year. A few of the most recent collaborations include: KidsPath of Hospice of Greensboro, YMCA, YWCA Teen Mentor, Greensboro Life Skills, Greensboro City Arts multicultural festivals and Tristan's Quest.
